Responderthon 2025

We would like to invite you to support us, either one off or regularly.
If you are a potential corporate donor interested in the Scheme, please email our treasurer: treasurer@uonresponders.co.uk
UoN Co-Responders are financially dependent on EMAS and the University of Nottingham and its Student’s Union for our operational equipment as well as our 3 response cars.
However, we rely on corporate and individual donors to remove financial barriers, enabling us to maintain the highest standard of patient care by providing the best training for our responders. For example, we rely on annual donations to fund each cohort of our responders to achieve their FREC 3 and FREC 4 qualifications. These qualifications are a stepping stone for our responders which will contribute to making them into the best future doctors they can be.
Furthermore, funding supports our responders in obtaining their Awards in Education and Training, which allows us to internalise training and run quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions. This enhances our responders' skills and ensures they deliver the highest standard of patient care in the field.
We also rely on fundraising to supply the core items at the very foundation of our scheme (including everyday basics which have broken or been worn out) in our kit, bags, store room and cars to keep everything fully operational.
We would like to invite you to donate, either one-off or regularly, or to sponsor our scheme, for which we would be very grateful. Thank you for your support in advance!

UoN’s Co-Responder School Programme:
Bringing Lifesaving Skills to Your School!
We’re thrilled to offer interactive, hands-on workshops for schools in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area as part of a wider collaboration to raise awareness about CPR and cardiac arrest response. These workshops are designed to dispel myths, break down barriers to action in emergencies, and boost confidence for students, teachers, and parents alike. If appropriate, we would also love to share what it’s like to be a student first responder, offering students insight into pre-hospital care and the medical journey through university.
Thanks to our partnership with Resuscitation Council UK, students who participate in our workshops can earn a Resus Ready certification. We’ve also recently received a grant to use state-of-the-art training equipment, giving participants the best learning experience possible.
Our Goals:
* Teach age-appropriate Basic Life Support in an informal and engaging way
* Reduce fear or anxiety around healthcare professionals and emergencies
* Provide a window into the world of pre-hospital medicine and healthcare careers
* Build confidence, communication, and teamwork between healthcare students and young people
* Create a fun, safe, and memorable experience for everyone involved
How You Can Support Us
We kindly ask for a £1 donation per student who takes part in our workshops. Donations can be made in person via our coin bins or online via our JustGiving page. Every contribution supports official teaching courses for our responders, helping us build a more self-sufficient training programme while developing our volunteers into highly skilled and confident future doctors

Responderthon 2025:
After the success of last year, we are excited to announce our upcoming 2025 Responderthon!
Since the scheme's launch in 2014, we have volunteered over 43,000 hours and have been dispatched to 14,000 emergency 999 calls, positively impacting the lives of thousands of patients and families in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Thanks to our active, experienced and highly trained volunteers, we are proud to be the country's busiest University Co-Responder schemes.
However, the scheme relies on donations and grants to help us build a more self-sufficient training programme while developing our volunteers into highly skilled and confident future doctors.
Alongside our full time studies, we’re taking on the challenge of providing emergency response coverage for an entire week, 24 hours a day, using all three of our response cars. Each vehicle will be crewed by either a solo responder or a pair of Co-Responder volunteers who will be actively attending 999 calls across Nottingham and Derby, around the clock.
The dates of this year’s Responderthon will be :
Start: 12:00 Saturday 27th September 2025
Finish: 12:00 Saturday 4th October 2025
If you would like to donate on this page and share with family and friends to allow us to raise the vital funds to keep the scheme running at the highest standard, we really appreciate your support!
